La 1st International Conference on Spanish Speakers in European Spaces, que se celebrará en la Universidad de Berna (Suiza) del 7 al 8 de junio de 2018, pretende reunir por primera vez a investigadorxs que se interesen por las consecuencias sociolingüísticas que tiene la presencia de hablantes del español en diversos espacios europeos.
La conferencia reunirá a investigadorxs que se interesan por el estudio del lenguaje en la sociedad, con un enfoque particular en la presencia del español y sus hablantes en diversos espacios europeos. Todas las áreas de investigación y metodologías de estudio son bienvenidas. A título ilustrativo, se incluyen las siguientes: enfoques diacrónicos y sincrónicos del estudio de la lengua; variación y cambio lingüísticos; bilingüismo y multilingüismo; ideologías, estereotipos y actitudes lingüísticos; lengua e identidad de las personas transnacionales y sus descendientes; mantenimiento y transmisión lingüísticos; política y planificación lingüísticas; paisajes lingüísticos; análisis crítico del discurso.

The 1st International Conference on Spanish Speakers in European Spaces, which will be held at the University of Bern (Switzerland) June 7-8, 2018, intends to bring together, for the first time, researchers working on the sociolinguistic outcomes of the presence of speakers of Spanish in different European spaces.
This two-day conference brings together scholars interested on the study of language in society with a particular focus on the presence of Spanish and its speakers in different European spaces. All fields and methodologies are welcome at this conference, including synchronic and diachronic approaches to language; language variation and change; language or dialect contact; bilingualism and multilingualism; language ideologies, stereotypes, and attitudes; language and identities of transnational people and their offspring; language maintenance and transmission; language policy and planning; linguistic landscapes; critical discourse analysis; and more.
