READ ALOUD

The Read Aloud tool will read the text in the Best match field using the Windows built-in text-to-speech capabilities. This function requires .NET Framework 4.8.1 and earlier which is part of the standard MS Windows installation. The selected plaintext language in CryptoCrack will be used for the speech, if available in Windows.  Additional voices can be added in Windows at Settings -> Time & Language -> Speech -> Add voices. If the plaintext language selected is not installed in Windows an attempt will be made to read the text using the Windows default voice.

To start reading the speech click the Read Aloud icon.  The text must contain word breaks for it to best read the text, this can be achieved by clicking on the Add Word Breaks icon on the Edit menu before using the Read Aloud function. If no word breaks are present the speech synthesizer will try to pronounce the words as best it can. Periods/full stops and commas are recognised but asterisks in the text are ignored.

To stop the speech whilst it is reading click the Read Aloud icon again.
