CryptoCrack is a classical cipher solving program. It is freeware and can be downloaded for free from this site. It can solve over 60 different classical cipher types and in many cases without knowing any plaintext or the key length. Additionally a number of tools are included in CryptoCrack to help in the decipherment of ciphers. English language data and dictionary files are provided for solving English language ciphers and another 14 different foreign language data and dictionary files are available to download.

What's New in CryptoCrack v4
Improved screen compatability
All windows have been redesigned to ensure they are compatible for different screen sizes, scales and resolutions.
Fix Keys
Added an option for simple substitution cipher solving (Aristocrat, Patristocrat and Headline cipher types) to fix the keys.
Formatting Plaintext
For English plaintext word breaks, hyphens between numbers and apostrophes are added, the first word of a sentence is capitalised and a period/full stop is added to the end of the Best Match sentence.
Spell Check
Spell checking the Best Match plaintext has been added for French, German and Spanish. Only English was previously tested. This will only work if the language is installed in Windows. To check if it is installed go to Settings → Time & Language → Language & Region.
Additional Features
The Quick Access Toolbar settings are saved on closing CryptoCrack.
Added a toggle switch in Ribbon header (next to Info button) to collapse or restore ribbon. This increases the available space for the ciphertext and best match.
An option to search for two-word anagrams has been added.

CryptoCrack solves most ciphers without knowing the key length or providing a crib.
Data files for 15 languages are provided including:
English, Afrikaans, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, Esperanto, French, German, Italian, Latin, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish.
Dictionary files for 15 languages and containing nearly 2 million words are available to download. These can be easily customized by the user or new ones created.
Different languages can be set for the keyword and plaintext.
A number of tools are provided to help solve ciphers including:
Period finders using a Kasisiki test, Chi-square test and Index of Coincidence.
Word searches, e.g. cryp?o*y.
Pattern word searches, e.g. ABCDEBB.
Anagram searches, e.g. retains.
Letter order, e.g. 4312.
Key square finder for 5x5, 6x6 and 9x3 grids.
Keyword finder for simple substitution ciphers.
A tool to create data files.
Splits a single file of a collection of ciphers, as provided by the American Cryptogram Association, into individual cipher files.
Different languages can be set for the keyword and plaintext.
Ability to translate the best match text to a selected language. This is useful for Xenocrypts or foreign language ciphers. This function requires access to the Internet and uses Google Translate.
Reads the best match aloud using the Windows built in Narrator and selected voice.
Ability to format text by selecting character groups (A-Z, 0-9, punctuation etc.), capitalizing, reversing and grouping text.
Automatic English spell check is provided for the best match text. You need to have the .NET Framework 4.0 English language pack installed on your machine. For those without this there's an option to turn the spell check off in the Options window.
Many of the settings can be personalized by the user.

CryptoCrack is only available for Windows 11/10/8 and requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 (x86 and x64) or later. This shouldn't be an issue as .NET Framework 4.8 is installed by default on all versions of Windows 11 and Windows 10 version 1903 onwards. Users with Windows 8.1 and older versions of Windows 10 (version 1809 and earlier) can install it.
