The 20th Cross Hands Stick Show was held on 27 October at the Cross Hands Workingmens Club.
Exhibitors from Ireland and England who support the show every year attended, and we also had entries from all over Wales. Craftspeople demonstrated Stick Making, Wood Carving, Love Spoons, Halter Making, Paintings, Wood Turning , Basket Making, Leather Work and also stick making materials were for sale on the day.
The total number of Sticks was 274 (249 in the open, 24 in the novice and 1 junior stick)
The judges this year were Brian Thompson from Manordeilo and David Pickering from Penarth.
The best stick by a junior (16 or under) was made by William Davies of Cefneithin , who received the Perpetual Plaque.
The best novice stick, A Market Stick, was won by Caerwyn Morgan of Foelgastell who received the Cross Hands And District Cup.
The Best Novice opposite Stick, (a decorative Stick), was won by Keri Morgan of Garnant, who received the T K Beynon Cup.
The Reserve Novice Champion, was Andrew Jenkins of Haverfordwest, who received the Gethin Isac Memorial Cup.
The Novice Champion, was Caerwyn Morgan of Foelgastell, who received the Williams and Howells Sheild.
Best Market Stick Horn, was won by Tom Kavanagh of Co Kildare, Ireland, who received the Emlyn Lewis Memorial Cup.
Best One Piece Market Stick, was won by Reg Marshall of Hereford, who received the Lynn Evans Memorial Cup.
Best Stick In Show, A Decorated Horn Stick, was won by Reg Marshall of Hereford, who received the Penywaun Cup.
Opposite Best Stick, a one piece Thumb Stick Wood, was won by Bryn Thompson of Haverfordwest, who received the Cross Hands and District Cup.
Reserve Champion Stick Maker, was Geraint Davies of Llangennech, who received the Mr and Mrs V. Keith Jones Cup.
Champion Stick Maker, with the most points, was Reg Marshall of Hereford, who received the Alan Claude Davies Memorial Cup and the Dorian Heel Bar Perpetual Shield.
