Congratulations to Jim Brown for his induction into the
Bluegrass Music Association of Canada Hall of Fame
NOVEMBER 3rd 2023
Bluegrass Award and 100 Year Coombs Rodeo Grounds Celebration Event
On November 3rd 2023, Jim Brown was awarded an induction into the Bluegrass
Music Association of Canada’s (BMAC) Hall of Fame, for huge contributions for
bluegrass in Canada. This happened at the Coombs Rodeo Grounds, in the hall
and the place was packed, many coming for miles to congratulate Jim on this.
Jim has been instrumental in keeping bluegrass alive at Coombs all of these
years. Also celebrated with a huge cake was the 100th Birthday of the original
baseball diamond in the corner near the highway, and the related area, which
was sold to a group of people to keep it for use in the community, in 1923.
The first bluegrass festival occurred 55 years later and was in 1978. Although
the first one was not on these present grounds, the site has been the same since
1979, the second year it was held.
There will be a much larger story all about the Coombs Rodeo Grounds and how
it took bluegrass by the horns coming up soon.
Here are some photos of the November 3rd event:
