Story House features many original songs and tunes, mixed with covers of great songs both old and new. Though all four members of the band sing, Jake & Maiken’s arresting duet singing is the cornerstone of the band’s vocal sound. Story House has played a variety of venues around BC, Alberta, and Washington including the Shady Grove Bluegrass Festival, the Chilliwack Bluegrass Festival, Lighthouse Bluegrass Festival and the Hovander Homestead Bluegrass Festival.
Members of Story House have honed their craft all around the Pacific Northwest and in BC, Alberta and beyond with a variety of artists. Pete Goodall (Mandolin) spent time playing mandolin and guitar with Stay Tuned and Fidelity Grange. Tim Eccles (Banjo) was the guitar player with Great Northern and Mandolinist with 5 on a String. Jake de Villiers (Guitar) and Maiken de Villiers (Bass) played with John Reischman in the tribute to Bill Monroe and Jake was the guitar player with John Reischman and Kootenay Loop.

Jenny Lester, Jesse Cobb, Oliver Swain and Ivonne Hernandez - four acclaimed north American Bluegrass artists have come together to create an exciting new ensemble. Each with an impressive list of accomplishments in acoustic and Bluegrass music, Jenny, Jesse, Oliver and Ivonne have spent the winter cooking up a new set of sounds featuring deep southern harmonies, original songs, barn-burning fiddle features and wild improvisation.

Jesse Cobb is an International Bluegrass Award-winning Mandolin player and singer, recently relocated from Nashville, Tennessee where he was a member of the Grammy-
winning bluegrass group The Infamous Stringdusters.

Jenny Lester's voice is known throughout North American Bluegrass circles for its beautiful tone and delivery. Ivonne Hernandez was a child fiddling prodigy who has gone on to become Victoria's most decorated acoustic musician. The 2017 Juno Award winner has received two Western Canada Music Awards, Two Canadian Folk Music Awards and Five Grand North American Fiddling Championships. The Coombs Old Time Fiddlers are a group of not for profit musicians mainly playing Canadian Old-Time Music in and around the Oceanside area at various events since 1983.
