Repeater Changes Coming

posted Apr 23, 2017, 6:49 PM by Cookeville Repeater Assocation   [ updated Apr 23, 2017, 6:50 PM ]

The 147.210 repeater will become a multi-mode repeater.

When this happens everyone will need a CTCSS (PL) tone of 107.2 to access the analog repeater and if you don't want to hear the digital noise you will need a tone squelch set also of 107.2.

With the proper tone set the repeater will know if it is digital or analog traffic.

The new MMDVM will allow DMR, D-Star and Yaesu System Fusion on the same repeater.
However the analog side of the repeater will not hear the digital and digital will not hear analog.
When analog has control digital will be locked out and when digital has control analog is locked out.

There is also and additional Echolink node that will be active on the analog repeater. I will attach the command sheet for anyone who wants to use the node.

During emergency activations in Putnam County Digital will be locked out. All emergency activations will be analog only and at the very least the Echolink node will be turned to receive only so that those outside Putnam County don't interfere with the emergency at hand.

If you have any questions or comments please don't hesitate to ask or comment.

Mesh Network in Putnam County

posted Mar 17, 2017, 4:26 PM by Cookeville Repeater Assocation   [ updated Mar 17, 2017, 4:26 PM ]

For those that want to install a mesh node here in Putnam County, I present to you some information to help.

AREDN - Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network

AREDN Mesh Live Map

Airlink - Outdoor Wireless Link Calculator

Broadband-Hamnet or HSMM-MESH - is a useful site for information

The coordinates for the Short Mountain node is 35.86570, -85.97500 and the node is at 117 feet (35.6616 meters)

When we get the 5ghz node up at the CRA repeater tower it will be pointed at Short Mountain with a 120 degree sector antenna, so it should cover quite a bit of Cookeville.
The coordinates are 36.082113, -85.374279 and the plan is to have the node at 200 feet (60.960 meters) but no less than 130 feet (39.624 meters)
In the future we will add nodes to cover more of Putnam County with 5ghz and add 2.4ghz nodes as well.

The more mesh nodes we add in Putnam County the better our coverage and the ability to use it during an emergency when there is no way to get network by usual means.

Santa Net 2016

posted Dec 17, 2016, 4:03 PM by Cookeville Repeater Assocation   [ updated Dec 17, 2016, 4:03 PM ]

The Cookeville Repeater Association is going to have Santa Net on Saturday, December 24th at 7pm Central Time on the 147.210 repeater that will last as long as we have participation. Get those kids near the radio and let them talk to Santa from his sleigh as he is delivering gifts to all the kids. You might even get to talk to Mrs Claus too.
