Through my studies and professional work I have shown values and ethics of leadership competence by:
Reflection:
Values and ethics are a competency that I felt extremely comfortable with beginning the program in the general sense, but I knew I needed to learn more about the applications of those vital components in relation to the success for an administrator. Being brought up in a strong family with values of doing the right thing every time as well as a Catholic education from kindergarten to high school, I have confidence in my ability to conduct myself ethically and live up to the values of my family and school of community, excellence, faith, learning, and service.
Through the program I was exposed to more challenging situations that required careful consideration into the ideal solution to the issue. Not every problem presented has a simple solution, and some situations can present difficult ethical and moral dilemmas. However, I have studied the Code of Ethics for Administrators and understood that the principal and administrative team must lead by example of being ethical, open, and honest to promote positive behaviors and leadership. Administration must take the lead in following and inspiring teachers to follow the mission and values of the school. We must work with students on teaching the total person, not just the content, but also the respect and behavioral discipline to grow through tough situations to become caring, informed, successful citizens when they graduate.
