Exhaust system.
The exhaust system was finished off by attaching the straight centre pipe and the silencer. The silencer is held in place with a rubber mounted bracket. The joins were sealed with exhaust paste. The engine would need to be run to harden the paste. A heat shield was made out of aluminium mesh to protect passengers when they get in and out of the car.
A stainless steel finisher was made to go round the hole in the bonnet where the exhaust exits.
Bonnet.
The bonnet is attached with four Dzus fasteners. A bit of filing was needed to get it fitting properly, and the brackets required some fine tuning to get the fasteners to catch and lock.
Spare wheel carrier.
The spare wheel attaches to the rear of the car. The area where the wheel attaches is quite flexible, so some square tubing was bonded to the inside of the boot. A bracket was made which bolted through the rear of the body and square tubing. On top of this was welded a plate with two wheel studs to hold the wheel in place and two longer pieces of threaded rod which hold the spare wheel cover in place. When finished the bracket felt really solid.
