Here is a series of topics that I've recently grown an interest in and trying to read and learn more about.
I shall write more about them... here's just some preliminary and blurry thoughts:
Science education
- scientific literacy (still thinking about it...)
- alternative approaches to teach physics, maths & general science, in particular in connections with the arts & humanities
- intro undergrad classes about science and scientific thinking for non-science majors
- I'd love to get involved in some (informal) science education activities – still trying to figure out exactly how
Education in general
- I support movements such as rethinking schools and teaching for social justice
- and clearly, I disagree with any sort of standardised tests and corporate practices in education
The sociology of scientific and academic research
- labour & funding practices: how do they shape the making of science (in terms of both science results & the lives of scientists)
- improving/broadening the training of scientists; diversifying career paths; etc.
