Get the inside scoop from Kristin Bird, a young woman who has been tapped by Bishop Ricken and others around the country to help lead the Church’s New Evangelization and Forming Missionary Disciples efforts to change from the inside out.

What we can learn from the Early Church

"How did a ragtag band of nobodies become such a dominant force?     -George Weigel, “The Easter Effect”, The Wall Street Journal, March 31, 2018

They were ridiculed, persecuted and even put to death. But they would not, could not, stop telling the world about Jesus of Nazareth, the itinerant Jewish teacher who loved them enough to die for them. With their words, actions and lifestyles, the Early Church told their stories and proclaimed Jesus as the Risen Lord, and within centuries nearly half of the Roman Empire was converted to Christianity.

What was it that allowed the Early Church to literally transform the world? Two millennia later – in another age of great hostility toward Christians – what can we learn from these trailblazers of the 1st to 4th centuries? Walk back in time with Mike Mauthe, Xavier H.S. principal and a beloved educator and theology scholar. Mike has a gift for making tough subjects clear and relevant.

"The Church is in a time of struggle.  Catherine's voice is needed more than ever today?.
"People are hungry for a voice of truth, like Catherine's, something that makes their faith relevant.  I feel that she has a voice that says, 'Don't give up on the Church.  Believe in it, its struggles and pain, and be part of making a difference.'"

The SETH ALFARO Family presents...

Earth Meets Heaven

Times of great suffering often lead to lessons of faith.

The Alfaro Family could write a book about it. (And they actually are!)

The most recent chapter involves 21-year-old son and rap artist, Seth, who fell more than two stories and suffered severe head trauma, leaving him in a coma and hovering near death. As his parents prayed beside their son’s motion- less body, what they didn’t know was Seth’s spirit was thriving in a strikingly different realm filled with God’s presence. And there, until the miraculous intercession of prayer warriors brought him back to earth, he was schooled in the lessons of eternity. When Seth finally awoke—one of numerous miracles in this story—he was a changed man.
