“Lord, will only a few people be saved?”

Jesus answered them,

“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter but will not be strong enough.

After the master of the house has arisen and locked the door, then will you stand outside knocking and saying,

‘Lord, open the door for us.’

He will say to you in reply,

‘I do not know where you are from.

And you will say,

‘We ate and drank in your company and you taught in our streets.’

Then he will say to you,

‘I do not know where you are from, depart from me you evildoers. ' Lk 13:22-27

Strive to enter, means it takes work to persevere in one's faith. Strive means to work to build the strength needed. Strength to fight the good fight against temptation and forces of evil in your own heart and around you. Your fight is not alone, God is at your side through the grace of our Lord Jesus to guide and help you.

In everyday terms for example, if you have been given the opportunity to make the Varsity sports team you don't just relax and say your done. On the contrary, you continue to work hard to better yourself everyday. Grace gives us a chance to be on the team, it is our choice to continue to work with the coach and persevere to greatness. Sin is like the sports injury that ruins your career. So one must always continue to strive, and in doing so, will build strength in order to protect against that threatening injury. So stay strong in the faith and persevere to holiness.
