Jesus took all the sins of mankind on himself and because God has no time reference, (always was, always will be), the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass can forgive us 2000 years later, and will 2000+ years from now, but we must participate. The salvation of all mankind is through Jesus but requires the cooperation of mankind. With the fiat of Mary ( the first Disciple) redemption and salvation entered the world through Jesus. Jesus is not being re-sacrificed at each Mass, Calvary is perpetual to God, but we must say "Yes!" today to participate in His saving Grace for us now. St Bernnard of Clarvouir said "What is perpetual takes place in what happens only once. " The cross was sufficient but our participation is essential to accept salvation for ourselves and the same goes for future generations because true freedom demands that a decision must be made.
