Awards
The club presents a range of awards at ‘The Annual Awards Evening’, normally held in January or February each year.
1. The Bill Hignett Memorial Award for miles covered on a BSA.
Awarded to the person who has completed the highest number of miles on qualifying runs during the year. Qualifying Runs will be highlighted on the calendar page of the website. The secretary keeps a copy of all run attendance sheets. Qualifying runs are not held during the period 1st November – 28th / 29th February. Eligibility - Small Heath BSA. Current Holder : Andrew Guttmann
2. Attendance Award.
Awarded to the person who has been a regular attendee at club meetings. Criteria: personal attendance – 1 point, attendance on a motorcycle (including Mahindra BSA) – 2 points, attendance on a Small Heath BSA – 3 points. 1 point only during the period 1st November – 28th / 29th February. Current Holder : Paul Dobson
3. The Chris Edge Restoration Award.
Awarded to the person who, in the opinion of the committee, has demonstrated skill in the restoration of a Small Heath BSA. The machine will have been completed during the year and will have been presented at a qualifying run or a club meeting. The committee will note the ‘before’ and ‘after’ transformation, the degree of difficulty, the extent of work undertaken by the member or ‘farmed out’, and the experience of the restorer. 4. Chairman’s Award.
Awarded by the Chairman to the person who has made the most significant contribution to the life of the club. Current Holder : Andrew Guttmann
5. Memorial Run Award.
A special run is organised each year when we remember friends and members who have passed away. The run has a casually competitive element.
In memory of Percy Broughton, Dave Barnes, Bill Hignett, Chris Edge, Neil Walton, Dominic Johnston, Joan Burns, Dave Pratt, Bob Mackin, Peter Morgan, John Deaville, Brian and Jeanette Gregory.
Please let us know if we have overlooked anybody. Eligibility determined by the run organiser. Current Holder : Vic Hearnden
6. Run of the Year.
Members are encouraged to put on runs for other members to enjoy. This award is judged by the committee and is given to the organiser of the most enjoyable run. Day runs only are considered from the qualifying list on the club calendar. Current Holder : Frank Lloyd
7. Conquering Adversity
Awarded to a club member who has shown determination to ride and support the club in the face of other challenges. Current Holder : Frank Lloyd
8. The Dave Barnes Memorial Award.
Awarded at The Annual Bowling Bash, usually in August. Current Holders: Eileen and Andrew Guttmann
9. Annual Ten-Pin Bowling Award
Awarded at the Ten-Pin Bowling night, usually November. Current Holder: Steve Edwards
10. Anniversary Award
A special run is organised each year to commemorate the first official meeting of the Cheshire Branch of the BSAOC, which was held on 4th March 2004. The run has a casually competitive element. This normally coincides with the first run of the year, 'The Season Opener'. Eligibility determined by the run organiser. Current Holder: Richard Hodgson
n.b. Friends and guests are welcome to attend any of our runs and events but only members of the Branch are eligible for awards.
