Purpose of the Soul Matters program
from the Soul Matters Participant Guide:
Soul Matters groups offer the gift of spiritual connection.
Around us swirls a shallow, frantic and materialistic culture that regularly leaves us cut off from our deepest selves, life’s gifts and needs greater than our own. Many of us come to church hungry to mend these sacred connections that get frayed and torn.
Soul Matters exists to support this journey of reconnection to life, others and our selves.
from the UUCF announcements:
Soul Matters promotes a deeper learning of ourselves, delving more deeply into our personal spiritual journey. It encourages introspection rather than discussion. Soul Matters is an invitation to listen more deeply and intentionally.
Purpose of UU Writers, a Soul Matters-guided program
from the UUCF announcements:
UU Writers groups follow a small-group curriculum to support monthly theme exploration and engagement in spiritual discernment through the art of creative writing. Using whichever writing practice is most comfortable (journaling, poetry, prose, storytelling), participants share, inspire, support and witness each other.
Purpose of our Chalice Circles
Provide a structure in which we may minister to each other
Encourage our spiritual growth
Help us develop relationships of substance and depth
Have as a subject our own lives
Be sacraments of right relationship among ourselves
and between our circle and the congregation
from the UUCF announcements:
Chalice Circles are small groups of people that would like to form new and to re-new relationships at UUCF and feel more connected to the congregation, as well as participate in a spiritual exploration with others. It follows a special format.
Purpose of our Wisdom Circles
from the UUCF announcements:
Wisdom Circles are loosely structured and oriented toward getting to better know participating seniors (55+) through discussion of meaningful subjects. The Facilitator and Participants determine the needs of the group and the level of meeting structure. There is no "homework" and the topics may be brought up by the Facilitator or the Participants during the meeting. Participants can come and go as they please, but it is best to commit to the group and come as often as possible, to establish bonds and connect with each other.
The Wisdom Circle is a small-group opportunity for seniors (55+) who want to meet with others to discuss similar general concerns. There will be check-in and then discussion of a mutually chosen topic.
Purpose of our Community Circles
from the UUCF announcements:
Community Circles are loosely structured and oriented toward getting to better know Participants through discussion of meaningful subjects.
The Community Circle is a small-group opportunity for any age wanting to meet with others to discuss similar general concerns. There will be check-in and then discussion of a mutually chosen topic.
Purpose of Men's Group
from the UUCF announcements:
This offers constructive ways for men to talk about issues and concerns that are unique to them. These gatherings are a sacred space for males and male-identifying people to discuss whatever is on their mind. Attendees get a chance to check in, listen and be heard, although there is no requirement to share.
After check-ins, there is discussion on a theme with opportunity to speak and discuss how the theme resonates for each of us. There is opportunity for social get-togethers, outdoor activity, and congregation/community service.
Purpose of Adult Religious Exploration Classes
from the UUCF announcements:
These are popular leader-guided classes on various spiritual topics.
