DOROTHY ADELIA CHAFFEE, daughter of Herbert Fuller and Carrie Toogood Chaffee, was born in Amenia, ND, June 15, 1890; died in Minneapolis, MN 1969; married (1) December 21, 1910 at Amenia, ND, Peter Elbridge Stroud, son of Edward and Sally (Foust) Stroud of Chapel Hill, NC. He was born at Chapel Hill on October 12, 1876; died at Minneapolis, MN July 12, 1959. This marriage terminated in divorce in 1938, and on August 22, 1939 she married (2) in Minneapolis, MN, George Irish Langworthy, son of George and Anne (Karr) Langworthy. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on October 7, 1880; died _?_. Before this marriage he had two daughters by a former marriage.

Dorothy received her early education in public and private schools in Amenia, later at Oberlin Academy (Ohio) 1904 to 1906; at Oak Hall in St. Paul, MN 1906 to 1908; and at LaSalle Seminary, Auburndale, MA, 1908 to 1909. While with her mother in Seattle, WA during the summer of 1910, she met and became engaged to Peter Stroud, and was married to him the following winter. They settled in Minneapolis, MN soon after their marriage, and except for a few months at various times, and for a period in Thermopolis, WY, 1955 to 1962, she lived in that city.

Peter Stroud spent his early years with his parents at Chapel Hill, ND. He enlisted in the army early in the Spanish-American War and was in the field artillery during the famous battle of San Juan Hill. Soon after that war he re-enlisted in a company that was bound for the Philippine Islands where he soon transferred to civil service, in which capacity he spent the next several years. During the latter part of this tour of duty he was in charge of the purchase of all supplies needed by the United States government in the whole group of islands.
Soon after meeting Dorothy Chaffee, her father prevailed on him to come to Minneapolis where he became associated with the John Miller Company, the grain selling division of the parent farming business, a connection that he maintained until this business was dissolved in the 1930's. Thereafter he was in business for himself in Minneapolis, at Amenia, and later at Anoka,MN until his death in 1959.
Dorothy's second husband, George Langworthy, was city salesman for one of the large printing establishments in Minneapolis.

i. Karen Elizabeth ("Betty") Stroud, b. April 24, 1913; d. _?_ ; m. in Minneapolis August 18, 1934 Robert Richard Bumford, son of David Richard and Mary (Shipley) Bumford of that place; he was born at Billings, MT October 20, 1912.
ii. Peter ("Petey") Elbridge Stroud, Jr., b. February 21, 1915; d. _?_ ; m. in Atlanta, GA, July 28, 1939, Ann Satterfield, daughter of Reuben and Maude (Reagan) Satterfield, or Cartersville, GA. She was born August 18, 1916 in Cartersville.
iii. Dorothy ("Dody") Chaffee Stroud, b. September 23, 1916; d. at Billiings MT, April 25, 1957, buried at Thermopolis, WY; m. (1) at Mason City, IA, April 15, 1934, Stanley George Faltico, son of George and Harriet (Knudsen) Vierling, of Minneapolis, MN, b. Minneapolis, December 8, 1912; d. Sept.6, 1986. This marriage terminated in divorce in 1942, and she married (2) at Watertown, SD, June 17, 1944 as his second wife, Paul Ralph Liesch, son of Ralph Paul and Edith Mae (Boardman) Liesch of Rochester, MN; born December 18, 1911; d. March 3, 1983.
iv. Walter Reed ("Stubs") Stroud, b. W. Minneapolis Village (Now Hopkins), MN, March 7, 1920; d. Dec. 29, 1963 in Anoka, MN ; m. in Minneapolis, MN, September 4, 1941, Frances Pinckney, daughter of Arthur John and Anna Mae (Enderson) Pinckney of that place. She was born in Forest City, IA, Feb.8, 1923. This marriage terminated in divorce April 8, 1963.
