PROGRAM PLAYER & PARENT EXPECTATIONS
What we ask of players, parents, and families.
Christmas Tree Sale opens Friday, November 27 at the Centaurus football field.
What we ask of players, parents, and families.
Players are expected to be open to learning new techniques and skills, and to understand that every member of the team plays an important role in the success of our program, whether on the field or serving a role in the dugout.
Players are expected to exhibit commitment and dedication both on the field and in the classroom. What you do on the field, you do in your life. Learning and exhibiting these character qualities during your years at Centaurus will better prepare you for life outside the fences of our field and this school.
Good sportsmanship is an important part of this program and you are expected to model it at all times. We encourage and support our teammates, and we respectfully and graciously acknowledge our opponents, win or lose. Unsportsmanlike behavior — throwing equipment, taunting opponents, disrespect — will not be tolerated.
Baseball is not an individual sport. Our success will be measured by how well we play together as a team, not as a group of individuals. You are expected to support and encourage your teammates, and in return you can expect to be picked up by those around you on the days you are not at your best.
Come to practice and games willing to give one hundred percent. Giving your best effort does not require you to be the best player on the team — in fact it has nothing to do with your baseball skills. Run hard on and off the field. Hustle between drills. Run out routine balls. Hustle back to the dugout after striking out.
The primary form of communication is through your coach. Your parents will no longer know everything. You will get information from your coach and pass it on to your parents, and you are responsible for acting on it.
Arrive early and be prepared. Be at the field before the time you are required to be there. Arrive prepared for that day’s activity with your equipment, food, water, and clothes appropriate for the weather.
Support and respect your teammates, all other players, and all coaches. Respect the decisions coaches make even when you disagree with them — coaches decide in the best interest of the team.
Demonstrate good sportsmanship under all circumstances, including when the other team’s players, coaches or parents do not. Be positive and proactive, and always respect the umpires.
Keep a positive attitude. Focus on working hard and getting better to help the team. When mistakes happen, learn and move on rather than dwelling on the moment.
Support your player and help them focus on their responsibilities. Communicate with your player and provide assistance as needed — younger players may need transportation.
Let the coaches do the coaching. Provide encouragement.
Cheer for the team and demonstrate good sportsmanship under all circumstances, including when the other team’s players, coaches or parents do not.
Volunteer when you can to support the program.
Come to games and support the team.
Players must maintain academic eligibility every week. Eligibility is checked weekly, and players are responsible for staying current with their school responsibilities so they can participate.
