The 'Cave Tree', a Eucalyptus regnans (swamp gum), in the Styx Valley, Tasmania.
Width at 1.3 metres high (DBH)=5.15 metres.
Has a walk-in hollow which is the red portion in the image.
Fores type is 'mixed-forest' (eucalypt canopy above a rainforest understorey).
In Victoria swamp gum is called mountain ash but there's very little mixed-forest.
The camera was Zebedee, a mobile scanning laser loaned from CSIRO.
Also using Zebedee, a dry-sclerophyll woodland, canopy trees Eucalyptus pulchella (white peppermint), at Knocklofty reserve, Hobart, Tasmania.
