For this project, students will observe, analyze, and respond to cultural codes communicated in a piece of visual media. After they analyze a form of visual media, either a television commercial or a music video, they will make an argument about it. As they argue, students will incorporate ideas from Jean Kilbourne's "Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt" and Killing Us Softly 4 to support their assertions about the visual rhetoric and cultural codes presented by the chosen media.
