Goldfish were chosen over Koi because of their size and rate of growth. Goldfish come in an array of colors and are easy to maintain. Especially if you introduce healthy fish into your pond. A few tips that have worked for us. Don't over feed your fish. After wintering over, wait till pond temperature reach 60 degrees, then start feeding again. When temperature drops, stop feeding. Keep pond(s) clean and free of dead/rotting debris. Introduce healthy fish and quarantine in a smaller tank when in doubt. Keep adequate plants for your fish, ones that provide natural feed, shade, and protection from predators. Remove chlorine from the water when you introduce your fish into their new home and when you do any water changes. Keep your pond in good balance, don't add too many fish. That also allows your fish to grow bigger and have more room to thrive.
