Dr. JJ Duke is originally from Clovis, CA. He went to Arizona State University from 2001-2005 where he was part of the Sun Devil cross-country and track and field teams. In 2005 he earned a BS in Kinesiology from ASU. He received an MA in Exercise Physiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008. He went to Indiana University in Bloomington, IN for his PhD in Physiology (2008-2012) and an MS in Applied Statistics (2010-2012). He completed postdoctoral training in 2014 in Pulmonary Physiology in Andrew Lovering’s lab at the University of Oregon. Prior to joining the Department of Biological Sciences at NAU, Dr. Duke was an Assistant Professor at Ohio University.
When he is not injured, JJ enjoys being outside, hiking, running, mountain biking, and spending time with his wife, Brenna, their son Ian (2 years), and the newest edition, Graham (born 5/19/20).
