Today I went on http://solutions1.emetric.net/cmtpublic/CMTCode/Report.aspx and I was looking at CMT scores for Waterbury and Region15. First of all, it was immediately apparent that Waterbury's schools did not earn a very good score compared to Region15. Second of all, I looked at all of the grades. Do you know what was weird?
Third through sixth grade did awesome, then at seventh grade things go downhill.
Also, all grades seem to have a weak spot at 1) Measurements, 2) Mathematical Applications.
All subjects seem to be improving, but Region15 is actually decreasing their scores in Math... But Waterbury's score is increasing, and so is the state average! IS OUR GENERATION BECOMING DUMBER?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
All of the grades had Writing as their worst subject, with the least percent people reaching goal. This is normal. But this year, grade 8 had a terrible score on math, compared with the other subjects. How can this be? Was the test just too hard, or were the other tests too easy, was it the result of the decreasing trend, or what?
I wish I had discovered this site earlier. It is really cool.
