Fountains Close

At last, in August, 2018, Yvonne was given the keys to her new home.

Yvonne was the first person to move in; she moved in during the hot spell. She had placed a table and chairs onto her balcony and while sitting there thought,

"It was like being on holiday abroad... beautiful flat and so quiet."

The quiet did not last more than two days - local youths hanging around, smoking, getting into the new buildings, cycling over the new planted areas!

View from Yvonne's balcony - she did not want one with a view of the Green as she had had enough of listening and watching the motorcyclists roaring around the area.

The one remaining block awaiting demolition.

The photographs of Yvonne and of her old flat were taken on 15th March, 2018, in and around the one remaining block of flats.

Yvonne, along with other tenants in the remaining block had been offered a home in the newly built flats and they were all very excited about moving into their new homes.

Yvonne in her living-room

Yvonne's flat was on the ground floor and her living-room was warm and snug.

Yvonne's bedroom, though, had a severe damp problem

one of the many reasons why she was very happy to be moving

(the bedroom is accessed by a door in the living-room).

All of the ground floor flats had two entrances, one through the main front door, which was recessed (unlike the flats above on the first floor, their doors were flush to the walkway).

The front door led into a small hallway.

The back entrance\exit led into a small vestibule,

that had a door into the living-room

Yvonne's bathroom and kitchen.

the bathroom, (which was a decent size) and kitchen led off of the hall.

The kitchen lacked enough work spaces and

was overcrowded by the washing machine
