Our first thought was "Oh! No" Not Butts Farm. There is always trouble there". Well, we could either move into Butts Farm or wait another two years.

Our flat had just been refurbished with a new kitchen and bathroom - we were very nicely surprised.

We did, though, have to save up for new furniture and carpets.

Yes - we have seen a few people come and go.

We had new neighbours move in next door - very good neighbours and they are still there.

We were introduced to the Evergreen Group by Peggy and through the group have got to know more people.

Jean

Born 1962 Teddington

Moved into Gatfield House in 1996

When we were little we were not allowed to visit Butts Farm.

I was worried about moving in because of rumours. .

The first person I saw had a shaven head and tattoos - "Oh! My god!" but we soon became friends.

Took a while to settle in as I was not used to people living above me.

Now I am happy to talk to all my neighbours.

Moved into Exeter House 1997

What a state - the stink on the stairs!

I moved into Exeter House, moved out then came back to Basden Grove.

My property was in good condition

My family moved on to the estate.

How dirty the estate was - it has got a lot better

Peggy

Born: Teddington 1937.

Moved into Exeter House in 1998.

Previously I was living in Barnes, where we had been robbed three times!

I was very excited at the thought of moving to Hanworth as all of my family were here.

When I was 12 years old I used to come here to babysit for relatives living in Saxon Avenue.

There were swings and prefabs on the Green.

I had always liked Butts Farm.

Mind you on the first day we moved in it was raining - bucketing down. It took a while for me to settle in as I was out most of the day looking for a job.
