Pings
Well we finally made it on the trip, it was touch and go there for a while, but as soon as Dan said the restrictions were lifted, Wolfy was already on his way to Tocumwal, a boot full of slabs and eskys, what a trooper risking all to make sure we'd have cold beer on arrival. And we can't let his work pass without a big thank you for all your work, we probably take for granted that getting the beer & ice isn't a chore but to do it every esky round and all the grog for the trip is really appreciated.
I grabbed Chucker and headed off to meet Bernie at Ernies, where we paused to have breakfast Jack & Cola loaded the car and headed off, stopping at Nagambie for a feed as usual. Most of the crew were there on arrival, except for Pup who couldn't get a leave pass for Thursday but managed to get up by Friday night.
The weather was great, if not a little warm, but with weather like this, it made it even more pleasant still sitting around after midnight in shorts and thongs, and was probably the reason we managed to knock off 14 slabs between us plus all the extra's broaght up by those of us who get to that point where you just can't drink another beer.
Tee times were all over the place some early some late the afternoons were probably the hottest time of the day but we either loaded up with water or beers to get us through the round.
The course was in spanking condition, and the greens fast and true, when you got a read on them like I did day 2 you could knock them in from anywhere, pick a line and they just rolled in, shame it only worked 1 day for me.
There were some awesome shots played, day 1 ambrose had me in a group with Nick, thank god for him he really carried the rest of us in the group who were lucky to hit a fairway or green, but we all contributed in a small way on the odd occasion he'd hit a bad one.
Special mention for the Boiled lollies to Chocolates award, Costa going from NAGA day 1 to Winner day2, that's a big turn around.
Look we were missing a few, which would have only added to all the fun we had while we were there, Jaffa's & Suzi were sorely missed, all the crew wish them all the best, Macca was resting up back in Melbourne, now he's getting too old to go on 2 trips close together, but was lucky enough to have a wife by his side who is as lucky as he is knocking off a BIG jackpot on the pokies.
Many thanks as always to Mr Alan Broadbent for organising everything, another great trip in great weather and no cored greens.
