Over 100 Years of Scouting

100th Anniversary of Troop 9 

January 2020 marked the 100th Anniversary of the founding of St. Michael Boy Scouts. 

Research in Narragansett Council Headquarters located evidence that we were registered in Narragansett Council back to 1935, but we had been in the New London Council in our earlier years. Although we haven't yet found the 1920-1921 evidence of our registration in the New London, CT Council, we do have published evidence from parish news and the local Westerly, RI newspaper that confirms that we were organized in January 1920 by Rev. John J. Keane, assistant pastor of St. Michael Church, and George Chapman, our first scoutmaster.

Troop 9 Group Photos Needed 

Over the years during summers at Camp Yawgoog, there often were photos taken of troops by professional or camp photographers. We're trying to locate and scan copies of the Troop 9 photos for as many of our 100 years as possible. The list below shows what we have and what we're missing. We're also looking for help in providing names for the scouts and leaders in the photos that we've already scanned. 

In lieu of professional camp photos of the troop, we would appreciate any full troop group photo, (taken at camp or elsewhere), for any of the 100 years.
