Introduction

The design and development of this website strongly describes my knowledge gained through personal, education and work experience.

I am a certified network specialist with over 6 years’ experience in the IT industry performing roles such as a network engineer/technician, system administrator and help desk technician.

My interest in computers began at a young age due to the admiration of my father as he was a computer programming consultant for many years.  While he was taking college courses, I studied his Visual Basic 2005 course book and tried to build the programs listed in the book.  In high school, I took an introductory to A+ and a computer programming class.  Computer security was the next aspect I learned.  Purchasing and reading "Hacking: The Art of Exploitation", by Jon Erickson gave me a glimpse of what a computer security specialist could do.  Computers have always been an interest of mine and I decided to pursue my interest further by enrolling in college.

I graduated from Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) located in Appleton, WI in 2011 with an associate’s degree in IT-Network Specialist. Along with my degree, I received 3 certificates as well as continuing my education and earning another certificate from FVTC 2 years later.  While unemployed from Oct 2012 to Jan 2013, I gained the gold level of the National Career Readiness Certificate.

Throughout my IT career, I’ve earned several industry standard certificates that have provided value towards computer networking and security.  These certificates and others described above are displayed in the Degree & Certifications page.

Some short term goals are that I would like to study towards being Wireshark certified as well as taking advanced training on the Infoblox appliances.  Once I gain Infoblox Core advanced certification, I would like to become a Wireshark Certified Network Analyst (WCNA) and eventually a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).

My long term goals are to further my career as a Network Engineer and start preparing to become a Network Security Specialist/Penetration Tester.
