1. Kairos Briscoe has been very fortunate for many years with having significant volunteers (new & old timers) for its Christian Prison ministry at the Briscoe Unit, Dilley, TX.
2. Our ministry needs to continue to let the community know about this amazing ministry. Recruiting (volunteers/supporters) should be an ongoing process with our churches, community, friends and neighbors. Our intent should be informing others as we bring in new volunteers/supporters.
3. “The mission of the Kairos Prison Ministry is to share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to impact the hearts and lives of incarcerated men, women and youth, as well as their families, to become loving and productive citizens of their communities.”
4. Kairos Briscoe volunteers should encourage others in their Christian churches, communities, families & neighborhoods to join the Kairos team (Inside/Outside) at Briscoe. Additionally, informing their communities (those who may not know) on what Kairos is doing at the Briscoe Unit. Encouraging individuals to attend Kairos Weekend Training Meetings is a good start point for new volunteers.
5. Recruiting Tools:
a. Yourself. Your own personal testimony/witnessing about Kairos is the biggest attraction for others to want to join our team.
b. Kairos Briscoe has a website. Good information to familiarize yourself with.
c. We (UAC) have available a one page Kairos Briscoe flyer that provides basic Kairos information that you can email to your communities or print copies to distribute.
d. We have an excellent 6.5 mins video with Greg Longo, Clay Richey and Dereck White that provides a great Kairos overview. You could show at your church or other community meetings. Edit this video as necessary to fit within your time requirements.
e. Post Kairos information periodically to your church newsletters/bulletins/information sites.
f. Make periodic announcements about Kairos at church services/meetings or community meetings.
g. When making announcements at church or community groups, Kairos Briscoe has speakers that can assist you. Let us know about other areas that would be great opportunities to plant Kairos seeds. Our Speakers Team can bring Kairos to those areas.
h. You can work with your church leadership/staff/audio visual specialist in developing a short Kairos video to be shown at church services/meetings.
i. Maintain upcoming Kairos Briscoe Applications to distribute freely either digitally or hard copy to interested volunteers. Encourage interest among your different groups in order for prospective volunteers to attend Kairos Weekend Training Meetings, Fall Weekends,Training Meetings usually start in July and Spring Weekends, start in Jan. Prospective volunteers attending Kairos Weekend Closing Services is a good way to be inspired by Kairos. There is nothing like a Kairos Weekend Closing Service!
6. Please contact Frank Barth (frank.l.barth@icloud.com) if you require any of these Kairos information tools or you would like a speaker to assist you with a Kairos presentation to your church, community or neighborhood.
