For Grandparents

Your loss is double. Not only have you lost a grandchild, but you also have to sit and watch your child grieve, knowing that you are powerless to ease their pain.

While you will obviously try to be strong for your child, and to support them through this awful situation, you need to remember to take time for yourself and to allow yourself some space to grieve.

You may find this brochure helpful to read through. It's from the new Zealand branch of SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society).

At Born Sleeping, we also provide a listening ear for grandparents, by a grandparent. If you would like to make contact with our grandparent listener, please email us and we'll put you in touch.
