On 9 JUN 2018, the annual Bohicket Landing Home Owners Association (HOA) meeting was held to ratify the new fiscal year budget and elect new members to the Board of Directors. Thank you to the owners who attended in person and to the owners who sent in proxies. As we move into another year, the Board of Directors cannot stress enough the importance of attending or mailing a proxy for any election or voting measure. Without the necessary quorum, the HOA cannot complete an election or other voting requirement in accordance with the association’s By-Laws.
As for the budget, the 2018 – 2019 budget was approved by a majority of the owners present at the meeting as specified in Section 4.4.(n) of the By-Laws and Article 47F-3-103.(c) of the North Carolina General Statues. If you’d like a copy of the new budget, please contact a Board member listed on the About Us page of this website.
For the election, there was an additional nomination from the floor prior to voting and that individual was added to the ballot. The election of three (3) board members was conducted and the results were certified by the Board of Directors prior to adjourning the meeting in which the election was conducted. The results of the election are as are as follows:
Chetia Champion (elected)
Mark Little (re-elected)
Kyle Wenzel (elected)
The remaining 2 Board members are Nicole Freres and Terri Reynolds.
Within the next 15 days the new Board of Directors will meet for the purpose of electing the new officers of the Board and to establish the manner of operations for the new Board for the ensuing year. As per Section 4.6.(a) and (b) of the By-Laws, meetings of the Board of Directors may be held without notice at such time and place as shall be determined by the majority of the Directors. All meetings of the Board of Directors are open to Owners as observers. If you which to attend a Board of Director meeting as an observer, please contact a Board member listed on the About Us page of this website for the date and location of the next Board meeting.
On a final note, please take the time to thank our departing Board members, Barbie Shedd and Mark Freres, for their service to our community and the HOA. Barbie managed HOA treasury duties for 8+ years and was a founding member of the Board when the association was taken over from the developer. Mark led us as the Board President through some extensive repairs to the Boat Ramp and common areas and was instrumental in setting up the process and operations that the next generation of Board members will follow.
