To All Bohicket Landing Home Owners and Residents:
I hope this letter finds every one well considering the circumstances. First let me thank everyone for looking out for and helping their neighbors where possible.
The Board of Directors will continue to use the Bohicket Landing HOA website (www.bohicketlanding.com) to pass official HOA business, but the Bohicket Landing Facebook page has been a good source of information and I encourage everyone to read or post any information there that might be helpful in the storm recovery efforts. The Onslow County Citizens Phone Bank (910-989-5027) is another good local resource for recovery information.
The HOA boat ramp area had several trees fall during the storm. A large tree is blocking the concrete pad on the ramp and there are several other trees that are leaning and are potential hazards. The boat ramp road also has some run off damage from the rains.
The good news is the HOA has insurance that should cover the expenses to restore the road and remove the trees and other debris. The bad news is we need to restrict the use of the boat ramp until that is completed. I’m asking all owners, their guests, and/or renters to please not enter or otherwise attempt to use the boat ramp until that recovery is complete. Also, please do no attempt to clean up any debris or remove any of the fallen trees at the ramp or any other HOA common area. While we sincerely appreciate the good intentions, we have insurance adjusters coming to evaluate the damage and we’ve arranged for licensed and insured contractors to estimate the costs. This will reduce the HOA liability in case anyone were to be injured.
Our local garbage collector (M & W Haulings) will not pickup storm related debris. I spoke to them yesterday and they will begin regular household garbage pickup on Tuesday and recycling on Friday as per our normal schedule. Good news here is the NC Dept of Transportation will be picking up storm related debris in the future with no immediate costs to us. They don’t have a date scheduled for the pickup yet, but we’ll pass that information as soon as it is available.
I think it has already been posted to the Bohicket Landing Facebook page, but the NC DOT will not pickup household garbage and the storm related debris will need to be separated into to three different piles for it to be picked up. One pile is for construction and furnishing related debris (drywall, carpet, furniture, mattresses, etc.), a second pile for yard waste (tree limbs, grass clippings, leaves, etc.), and a third pile for electronic equipment/appliances (fridges, radios, computers, etc.). When placing the debris, please ensure it doesn’t block any storm water drains and is near the curb in front of your dwelling.
Again, we’d like to thank everyone for their help as we all recover from the storm. If you have any suggestions or need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact another HOA member or a director.
