Art Gallery: Urbanna Harbor Gallery showing 'Fresh Visions'

Posted: Wednesday, June 24, 2015 10:15 pm

Urbanna Harbor Gallery is showing “Fresh Visions,” a show of works by two Virginia artists: Bob Carlson of Toano and Brenda Mahoney of Hayes. Carlson, a practicing artist for more than 40 years, often explores the effect of light on water or glass in his work. Mahoney has been involved in creative handwork since childhood and retails her functional stoneware pottery in area galleries and stores.

“Bob’s paintings are beautiful and vibrant,” said gallery owner Barbara Hartley. “The images are fairly local but also represent his travels from as far away as Sitka, Alaska.” Mahoney’s ceramics, which are mostly nautical-themed, are “just gorgeous, absolutely exquisite,” Hartley said.

The show runs through July 12 at 202 Virginia St. in Urbanna. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and noon-3 p.m. Sunday.
