"To Be Early is to Be on Time. To Be on Time is to Be Late"
Attendance:
We have implemented a strike policy for the Winter Percussion Ensemble. Our goals for the policy are to instill a sense of responsibility in the students. We would like to teach the students that it is important to be on time and be committed to the activity by treating it much like school, a job, or any other activity they may be a part of in the future, in which unexcused absences and tardiness will result in consequences.
Roll will be taken at each rehearsal. Any student not present at the time of roll call will be marked tardy. It is important to realize that rehearsals begin and end at the designated times. This does not mean this is the time that students should arrive or leave. It is a good rule of thumb to be at rehearsals approximately 15 minutes early, and expect to leave 15 minutes after rehearsal ends. (The staff will do their best to get students out of rehearsal at an acceptable time if we have all student cooperation.)
Absences:
Please ensure that an absence request form for dates that you know will conflict with rehearsals are filled out one week prior to the conflict, and verified turned into the directors. Not all will be excused just because a form may be filled out.
Excused absences are those that involve: Illness, death in the immediate family, emergencies, and other events that have been discussed with the director. Work, homework, family visits, and other activities are not excused absences.
If you are running late, please CALL the director, and let him know the situation, and that things are Ok.
TEXT are NOT acceptable forms of communictation!
The staff understands that there are always circumstances that will force us to handle situations in a different manner. These situations will be handled at the directors discretion as they arise, but should be held to a minimum as an exception, no the rule.
Unexcused Absence = 1 Strike
3 Tardies = 1 Strike
TEXTING AND TELLING ANOTHER STUDENT IS NEVER AN ACCEPTABLE FORM OF NOTIFICATION TO THE DIRECTOR.
Attendance is not the only circumstance that may result in a strike. Students are expected to act respectfully and be prepared for rehearsals. The following is a list of behaviors that may result in, but are not limited to, a student receiving a strike:
**Any Circumstances not discussed here, will be dealt with at the directors discretion when an issue arises.
