We are looking forward to a great year for all of our bands, and especially the Marching Band and our upcoming show!
Welcome to all incoming Freshmen, Eighth Graders and Parents. We - the staff, band members, and Band Boosters, are very proud of our entire music program, and we look forward to having you become a part of this organization. There are many fun events to look forward to such as the football games, parades, competitions, and travel. And through it all you’ll develop lasting friendships and have enjoy memorable events!
Please, carefully read all of the following information (especially returning members), as some information may have changed this year.
Your student should have access to a commitment packet via Google Classroom or the BNL HS Bands & Music Boosters Facebook Group. Included with this packet are:
Please note that a commitment form not only secures the student a role in the upcoming season, it also represents the commitment to pay season fees in full.
Please dress appropriately (and according to school dress code) for all rehearsals. Obviously, shorts and T-shirts are best in this warm weather. You must wear tennis shoes with socks. No other footwear is acceptable. We recommend running shoes because they are lightweight, yet they provide cushion and support for marching. You should also be prepared to go outside (sunscreen, hat, etc. if necessary). You may also want to bring a jug with ice water or Gatorade, etc. Please plan your transportation to and from practices ahead of time. If you have transportation problems, contact me ASAP, and I will help you get something worked out. Don’t let this be an obstacle to participating in marching band.
If you have a family vacation, church camp, or other similar conflict with any rehearsal, no matter when it occurs, please bring in a note from parents prior to the date(s) in question if at all possible. This will help us to avoid making any unnecessary phone calls to your home. Parents, please include your child’s first and last name in the note and the exact days and dates that will be missed. Students, remember that employment is not an acceptable excuse for missing any rehearsal or performance. Take your calendar in to your employer and work out conflicts ahead of time. Employers are much easier to work with if you plan ahead and show responsibility.
