This is a step by step for first time users.
1 Assemble the BS
2, Soap test the gas connections. Yes, every instruction manual says you should, and many people don't, but you can't be too safe with gas. So test it, put a little dishwashing soap in a cup, add some water, brush the mixture over any connections, turn on the gas, and if you see bubbles, retighten and test again.
3 Turn on the rotis motor
4 Confirm the burner knob on the front of the BS is off, turn the propane tank open very slowly - 1/4 turn, count to 2, 1/4 turn, count to 2 , then continue opening. If you turn it on, and turn the burner knob to full and you don't get a roaring flame, you opened the propane knob too quickly, and a safety device has kicked in, keeping the BS burner from getting all the gas it needs to roar
WHY is my BS not putting out a very strong flame video on how to make sure the tank is opened properly
5. Once the gas is on at the tank, turn on the burner knob to full and hit the ignitor. It should sound like a jet engine once it ignites
6. Set the burner knob to your desired setting. I usually go for medium for warm up, but YMMV.
7. Preheat the BS till the lower stone reaches the right temp. Trick instruction, there is not right temp, since this is your first time using it. I would should for somewhere between 600 to 700 when you aim your IR gun at the stone on the platter as it approaches the flame. You really need an IR gun for this, otherwise you will have a guessing game of whether the stone is preheated enough. As you continue to use your BS, check before and after each launch, and that should help you decide what temp you want to launch at.
8. Load Pie
9 When done cooking, turn off burner knob, then turn off gas to tank, then turn off rotis motor. If you remember to always follow that order, you minimize the amount of time that the burner is concentrated at one spot on the metal platter. If you ever realize you turned on the BS burner before the rotis, turn the BS burner knob down, and get that rotis on. If you leave the burner on, while the platter is stationary, you can warp the platter.
