It Will Carry Me

Copyright Elizabeth Wellings

It was warm

And the sunlight sifted softly through the trees

It smelled clean

With the perfume of the flowers on the breeze

All this beauty was eclipsed

By the sweetness of your lips

And the memory of this will carry me

It will carry me

Just like a seed it will carry me

In my heart

The awakening of memories of the past

And the start

The beginning of a new love that might last

All the residues of pain

Washed away by summer rain

A renewal in my heart I can't explain

I can't explain it

But I know it will carry me

It will carry me, like a seed on the wind

It will carry me, to a safe place to land

And deep in my heart where the feelings are strong

I'll carry you along

It was warm

And the sunlight sifted softly through the trees

It smelled clean

With the perfume of the flowers on the breeze

All this beauty was eclipsed

By the sweetness of your kiss

And the memory of this will carry me

It will carry me

Just like a seed it will carry me
