The Business & Economics dept's tax prep program, bringing in UCLA VITA volunteers who provide free tax assistance to library patrons
Necessary supplies for the Octavia Lab's 3D printers – one of their most popular resources
Honoraria for speakers at programs hosted by the BEST departments at LAPL
Supplies for the Gardening Club

BEST Friends of LAPL provided honoraria for 3 speakers in the Octavia Lab speaker series celebrating the life and legacy of Octavia Butler.
2020
2020
In 2020, BEST Friends of LAPL provided $3,453.52 to the library. These contributions included:
• funds to the Octavia Lab for supplies needed to make face shields (PPE) for hospital workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. More information on this incredible project is HERE; and you can watch the Lab's documentary about their 2020 PPE program HERE.
• honorarium for a Lab volunteer who assisted with the face shield production and trained staff on how to use specialized machines for the effort.
• honorarium for the Mindful Meditation teacher
• lunch for the VITA volunteers from UCLA who provided tax assistance to patrons
• donation to the African American Firefighters Museum
