July and August 2008 - Toronto & Thousand Islands

We had the time of the century staying in Toronto this year. The usual wonderful berth at Toronto Island Marina gave us the skyline of Toronto each night and all of Centre Island for a back yard. Price was $840 for the month.

Our time in Toronto was so good for one very particular reason - Randy Chamberlain and Donna Querenguesser - who have become fast and firm friends. This pair knows how to live well and were generous beyond reason in hosting us in their City.

The typical day in Toronto was a fishing tournament in the morning, an afternoon at the nude beach off Hanlon's and a BBQ aboard R & D's very special Limestone runabout, Buttercup.

The rest of the trip is not worth commenting on. Plan your own trip to the 1,000 islands or you will never believe us.

From Kingston you can make Prynyer's Cove in a short day, Beau Rivage in a slightly longer day and Camelot Island in just a bit more. Along the way are hundreds of anchorages sufficient in diversity to satisfy any cruising taste.

The 1,000 Islands is not the North Channel but it is well worth a summer's investigation. Just stay away from Waupoos Island.

No more to be said on this topic.

Thanks again to R & D.
