Scalextric and Pioneer muscle cars with standard motors only.
Scalextric: Aston Martin V8; Ford Lotus Cortina, Anglia, Capri, Escort, Mustang & Falcon; Chevrolet Camero and Camero Z/28; Chevrolet Corvette; Dodge Charger; Porsche 911 RSR; Chrysler Hemicuda, Jaguar XJS & MK1; Mini Cooper S; Rover SD1 and Volkswagen Golf & Beetle.
Pioneer: Ford Mustang Fastback and Notchback; and Dodge Charger.
The above list of cars is not meant to be exhaustive, but is an indication of what current catalogue cars are able to be raced in the various classes. The cars noted in bold for each class above are the most frequently used by club members. If in doubt see what everyone is racing and ask. If you don’t have cars for any of the Championship Classes please don’t just buy something – you can always borrow first.
Class Rules
Body: Body and interior must remain as standard.
Chassis: Chassis must be the original Scalextric rather than aftermarket. Traction magnets must be removed. Weight (but not magnetic) may be fitted inside the car. The chassis edges may be trimmed / sanded slightly in order to allow some body rock if it is clear that the original design is blocking that once the screws are loosened. On certain cars, any gear cover mouldings that reduce the car’s ground clearance and therefore foul the track rails may be sanded off.
Screws: Longer screws may be fitted to allow body rock as the standard ones are usually too short to allow much loosening without them falling out.
Motor: The standard Mabuchi “18K” “S” Scalextric motor and Pioneer motor must be used, although the colour of the plastic end may vary.
Braids and guides: The original guide must be used, but braids from different manufacturers may be used. Wheels and tyres: All cars must use original sized wheels but the rear tyres may be changed for the Pioneer Racing ones (TY201251 or equivalent) on the USA Muscle cars, as some of the standard tyres aren’t very good. Tyres may be glued and trued and treated with light oil etc. Once the ‘yet to be released’ cars are released the club will see if there are any suitable replacements that we can use.
Gears, axles and bearings: Gears, axles, bearings and pinions must be as per the original Scalextric or Pioneer items, and may not be swopped over to the other brands.
