The season runs from September to May where 8 Championship Classes, will be run. Points will only be awarded from a nights racing for the classes, with the best 18 from 32 possible scores counting.
More novice racers are also entered into the 'Arcade Trophy' where the best 18 from 32 scores will count towards the championship.
The ethos of the club is that all cars are to be 'box standard' / as they come when you buy them. However, certain 'tweaks' are allowed in certain classes. All traction magnets are to be removed. Certain cars from some brands that are not as good as others in the same class. Therefore these may be modified, such as changing guides to guides with springs in order to enable them to compete at the same level. However this can only be done up to the point where they become as good – rather than better - than the overall class standard.
Scratch-built cars are allowed in most classes as long as they are constructed within the spirit of the rules and don’t blow everyone else away! All parts should be from other cars / manufacturers used in the relevant class. However, scratch-built cars will need to be tested and approved in order to be used.
If in doubt, please bring your cars along on the night and ask if they’re okay. Don’t forget, that we always have spare club cars that you can borrow if you don’t have cars for any of the Championship Classes – so please don’t just buy something - you can always borrow. Not all cars are as competitive as others and some cars just unfortunately do not fit into a Championship Class that we race.
Non Championship Classes: In addition to the Championship Classes, over the summer 'closed season' Non Championship Classes will be raced purely for fun. Whilst racing during summer nights tends to be on the basis of bring and race what you want.
