Get a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI)
What to look for in a PPI?
Get a PPI from a shop that is a Porsche Specialist. In particular, it should have the Porsche factory computer diagnostic equipment (PIWIS) for late model cars (>1999), and certified / experienced staff.
Consider BCIR Sponsors Motor Werke in Kelowna, BC, for instance.

Importing a Porsche into Canada
Ensure the vehicle can be registered in Canada (according to the Canadian Government).
To find out, go to the Registrar of Imported Vehicles, aka RIV:
Check exact make & model in the listings at http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation/VAFUS/list/VAFUS.pdf.
Note that you can actually talk to the RIV by phone (1-888-848-8240).
For late models with warranty, talk to a Canadian dealer to ensure that your warranty will be covered.
