2013 Car Show: Father's Day

Thanks to all those who donated and volunteered... special thanks to photographers Jiri Bakala and Melissa Johnson of Ascent Films.

June 16, 2013, Fundraiser: "Project Literacy" Euro Zone

For a $10 donation, any donor can sit in -- and get their picture taken in -- the following cars:

  • Porsche Carrera GT

  • Ferrari Enzo

  • Ferrari F50

  • Lamborghini Gallardo

  • and many others including some vintage classics

The first three options are no charge/free:

1) Enter your Porsche (note this is not a judged "concours")

2) Volunteer for small "shift" in the Euro Zone

3) Just come and see the cars

4) Donate to Project Literacy: time (as a volunteer), or cash, to help those who can't read to learn and grow!

Regarding the whole event: this is a great family outing with cars for Dad, bouncy castles and face painting for the kids and the silent auction for Mom, as well as great food and with Juno Award winner Johnny vs. Johnny and Floyd Vedan Band.

Interested in entering your Porsche (or another European cool car)? Option: you can elect to have your car in the charity fundraiser or just on display (no one sitting in your car). The fundraiser will have volunteers helping to prevent the cars from being damaged. There are limited spots so not all cars can be in it -- please contact Duane as soon as possible: president@bci.pca.org.

About Project Literacy:

Project Literacy is a non-profit organization that provides free tutoring to learners nineteen years and older. Generous and talented volunteer tutors assist learners in reading, writing and math. It is a satisfying place for all; a place where learners receive the help they need to achieve their goals and where tutors give of their time to make a positive change in the lives of individuals in need in our community.

Check out the project Literacy Kelowna website (http://projectliteracykelowna.org/) or call at 250-762-2163 to find out how to donate or volunteer.

About the Sponsors:

  • Thomas Budd, a local philanthropist, started the Thomas Alan Budd Foundation following his retirement from investment banking. After retiring from the fast-paced world of mergers and acquisitions he has since turned his attention to helping others.

  • Motor Werke (motorwerke.ca): Located in Kelowna, Motor Werke services European vehicles in the central Okanagan Valley and surrounding areas including Vernon, Lake Country, West Kelowna, Peachland, Summerland, Penticton, Oliver and Osoyoos.

  • Porsche Club of America, BCI Region: BCIR is a small sliver of the largest single-make car club in the world, with over 108,000 members! "It's not just the cars, it's the people."

This years Boyd’s 15th Annual Father’s Day Car Show will be better than ever... with a feature a "Project Literacy" Euro Zone at the entrance to City Park for Porsches and other interesting/exotic European sports cars.

The PCA BCI Region, Motor Werke and the Thomas Alan Budd Foundation are organizing and sponsoring the Euro Zone event to raise awareness and funds for Project Literacy Kelowna. All Euro Zone proceeds will go to Project Literacy, with a separate donation by Euro Zone sponsors to Cops for Kids via Boyds Autobody, who kindly organizes the whole car show.
