Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. a Public Hearing will be held regarding the proposed 2026 Town of Barksdale Budget. The hearing will be held at the Town Hall located at 29025 E. Ondossagon Rd.; Ashland, WI. Budget detail is available from Stephanie Yon, Town Clerk, 715-491-2256.
A Special Town Meeting of the electors of the Town of Barksdale will be called on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025, immediately following the Public Budget Hearing at the Barksdale Town Hall pursuant to Sec. 60.12(1)(c) of the WI Statutes by the Town Board for the following purpose:
1. To adopt the 2025 town tax levy to be paid in 2026 pursuant to Sec. 60.10(1)(a) of the WI Statutes.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an election is to be held in the towns, villages, cities, wards, and election districts of the State of Wisconsin, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. The following officers are to be elected:
County Supervisor: A County Supervisor for each county supervisory district, for a term of two (2) years, to succeed the present incumbent, whose term will expire on April 20, 2026. The present incumbent for District #7 Barksdale Town Board Supervisor is Dennis Pocernich.
Judicial Officers: One (1) Justice of the Supreme Court, for the term of ten (10) years, to succeed Rebecca G. Bradley, the present incumbent, whose term of office will expire on July 31, 2026.
For Candidates: The first day to circulate nomination papers is December 1, 2025, and the final day for filing nomination papers is 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
Primary Election: If a primary is necessary, the primary will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
For Voting: Acceptable Photo ID will be required to vote at this election. If you do not have a photo ID, you may obtain a free ID for voting from the Division of Motor Vehicles.

In furtherance of the health, safety, and welfare of the public, the Town of Barksdale finds it is in the best interest of the Town of Barksdale to establish a Fee Schedule for Violations Ordinance - Public Property for parking violations, environmental violations and other common infractions.

CITATION ORDINANCE NO. 2025-02
In furtherance of the health, safety, and welfare of the public, the Town of Barksdale finds it is in the best interest of the Town of Barksdale to establish a Citation Ordinance providing the authority for the Town to issue citations for violations of the Town of Barksdale ordinances, including ordinances with statutory counterparts. The Barksdale Town Board, Bayfield County, Wisconsin has the specific authority under s. 66.0113 Wis. Stats. to adopt this ordinance.

In furtherance of the health, safety, and welfare of the public, the Town of Barksdale finds it is in the best interest of the Town of Barksdale to establish a permitting process and other regulations applicable to individuals providing services/products within the Town of Barksdale or providing services/products which draw clients or customers to the Town of Barksdale. The ordinance was adopted by the Town Board June 10th, 2025 and is effective as required under s.60.80, Wis Statutes.

Pursuant to Section 349.16 of the Wisconsin State Statutes, seasonal weight limits of 10 tons are being posted on all roads in the Town of Barksdale, effective 12:01 a.m. March 3, 2025.

Opposition to SB349: Relating to Regulation of Nonmetallic Mining.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court in February, 2012 upheld the right of the town to adopt regulatory requirements to regulate nonmetallic mining by means of a town ordinance enacted under village powers
The Town of Barksdale is authorized to prepare and adopt a comprehensive plan as defined in sections 62.23(2) and (3) for towns exercising village powers under 60.22(3) of the Wisconsin Statutes
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town of Barksdale Comprehensive Plan Commission does hereby recommend the Barksdale Town Board hold public hearings to hear comments on the updated and revised Comprehensive Plan of the Town of Barksdale Bayfield County, Wisconsin.
