Putting Rules and Etiquette

ARIZONA TRADITIONS PUTTING RULES AND ETIQUETTE

1. PUTTING RULES

o Practice putting.

- Practice putting will be permitted prior to start of putting.

- No practice putts may be taken on or near the tees of competition holes.

- No practice putting is permitted between the end of the regular session and a Special Event.

o First 18 Holes.

- The maximum score on a hole will be THREE.

- If the ball comes to rest in the desert record a score of three and retrieve the ball after all playing partners have putted.

- All putts MUST be holed out.

-- No gimmies.

-- All second putts must be played.

--- Failure to attempt to hole out will result in disqualification.

o Second 18 Holes.

- One putt only.

- If a putted ball comes to rest behind the cup retrieve the ball after all playing partners have putted.

2. PUTTING ETIQUETTE

o The established etiquette for golf will apply.

o A courteous and friendly relationship between club members is expected.

- To assure this courteous and friendly environment, clothing (hats, shirts, etc.) containing statements political in nature are not permitted.

o Avoid putting distractions.

- Refrain from talking while your playing partners are putting.

- Talk softly so you do not disturb other putters who are putting.

- Remain still if you are within the field of vision of a putter who is putting.

- Always stand where your shadow does not fall on another putter or his line to the hole.

o When on a tee preparing to putt, if a line up procedure is performed the

process must be performed within 10 feet of the tee marker.

- The procedure must not;

-- Delay putting companions.

-- Impact where playing partners prefer to stand behind the tee.

-- Impact putters playing other holes.

o After putting your ball never walk in the putting line to the cup.

o After holing out, never remain standing directly behind the cup.

o In crowded conditions, if a tee is near the edge of the green, while waiting to putt stand at the green edge of or off of the green.

o Violation of the provisions of Club By-Laws, including continued violation of club putting rules and etiquette are grounds for termination of club membership.
