What Happened:
Attendees enjoyed wines purchased from Kroger and Trader Joe's along with specially selected cheeses to complement the wines. The cheeses were Manchego, St. Andre Brie and Cambozola Black Label, a dessert blue cheese.
Elaine constructed a brochure for the tasting that included information about each wine, including a picture of the bottle label, grape varieties, wine maker production notes, pairing suggestions and tasting notes. The wine price list was at the end of the brochure, so as not to influence the tasters ratings.
The Kim Crawford "illuminate" was unusual in that it was made using "spinning cone" technology to reduce the alcohol level without impacting the aroma of the wine. The final alcohol level was 7%.
August 14, 2021 Member Appreciation Dinner
Members are thankful that the President, Roy, and his wife, Sherry, are gracious hosts of a yearly wine dinner for chapter members. Members bring appetizers or a dessert and maybe a bottle of wine to share. Sherry has dinner planned and this year's tasty meal was spicy pork barbecue and Caesar salad. Pies and cakes completed the dinner.
This is one event that members shouldn't miss.

What happened:
The wines for this tasting were purchased at Costco, Total Wine and Kroger. The cheeses served were Goat Gouda, Stilton with Blueberries and Saint Angel, all purchased at the Murray Cheese Shop in Kroger. None of the bottles cost more than $18, with the Prosecco a steal at $7.
Participants enjoyed creating cocktails by adding a few drop of Aperix Aperitivo to the Prosecco and Cava. Some of the other sparkling wines were too tasty to blend with the strong, sweet and bitter-orange Aperitivo.
