Rehearsal Expectations
SCORE/PENCIL
The most important things to bring to rehearsal are your score and A PENCIL. You should be taking notes at all times. You may only mark your score/script in PENCIL (NO PEN). Damaged scores or scores marked in pen will cost you a hefty replacement fee from the rental company.
FOOD/DRINK/GUM
There is absolutely no gum during vocal rehearsals, as it is a choking hazard. Please be professional and throw it out as you walk in the door. Bring water with you, as you need to keep hydrated while singing and dancing; and you need to keep healthy. NEVER SHARE BOTTLES.
CLOSED REHEARSALS
Please understand that ALL REHEARSALS are CLOSED. This means no family or friends are allowed to stay and watch any rehearsal. Your family and friends will enjoy the show all the more.
ATTENDANCE
If you know you are going to be late, please call the director whose rehearsal you are late to. If texting, please identify yourself. If you are late and instruction is underway DO NOT INTERRUPT. Get to your spot, find your place, and DO NOT disrupt the rehearsal by talking or asking where we’re at. Please remember, 3 tardies = 1 unexcused absence; 2 unexcused absences = cut from the show. It is extremely important for you to be at all scheduled rehearsals. When you miss all or part of a rehearsal, everyone is affected, so please do your very best to be there and be on time. You will be expected to be off book (memorized) by the sit sings, but you will still need your score for those rehearsals. If you are sick or have an emergency, please call the director whose rehearsal you will be missing to let us know. Remember that you must attend at least four periods at school in order to attend any rehearsal or performance.
HOMEWORK
Please plan to bring your homework to every rehearsal, as there is always down-time in rehearsals where another part is being rehearsed, and it is important that you maintain at least a 2.0 GPA with no Fs.
BEHAVIOR
Please understand that professional behavior is expected from you at ALL times. If you have a question, please make sure it is relevant before you RAISE YOUR HAND to ask it. This is a creative process, and there will be times when I may ask for your opinion, but please do not offer it if you have not been asked, as it just wastes time.
KEEP THE ROOM CLEAN
Please clean up after rehearsals. Look around for your belongings and clean up your area before you leave.
The spring musical directing team will focus on preparing you to present the highest-quality production possible. This will begin to prepare you for the performance world after high school. You will be treated as professionals and we will expect you to live up to these standards at all times. Please feel free to email dtreible@pleasantonusd.net with any questions. Thanks and congratulations!
