My Best Friend: Tribute From Your Daughter
My heart is broken. Losing you was a heavy load on my heart.
How do I move on from here? How do I move on with my life?
You were my rock; the rock I leaned on, my best friend.
You were always with me. Wherever I went, you went.
My tears were your tears and my joys, your joys.
You asked me to be by your side. I stayed. And now you’ve left me.
Oh Sister, nuka ta? Nuka ta edzo miagbɔ?
God has blessed me, yes, He has blessed us to be your children.
Listening and learning from you was one of my greatest blessings in life.
It has made me who I am today and has impacted my children and even my grandchildren.
And that’s because you were an illustrious woman, a woman of substance and calibre.
You knew who you were and you did not let anyone tell you otherwise.
You showed no fears and you did not take no for an answer.
You were firm and loving, steel and velvet.
You succeeded in everything you did because God was with you.
And now you have answered His Call to Glory, you’ve gone ahead of us.
But I know you still watch over us among the great cloud of witnesses.
The last chapter of the Book of Proverbs aptly describes you:
A virtuous woman is hard to find, she’s worth far more than diamonds.
Like a merchant ship that brings back precious goods from faraway lands.
She’s up before dawn, providing for her family and organising her labourers.
She examines a land and buys it. She invests the fruit of her labour.
She calculates the profits of her business; her lamp does not go out at night.
She stretches out her hand to the poor, yes, she champions their plight.
She’s prepared to weather the storm, for her home is furnished in style.
She is clothed with strength and dignity. She faces tomorrow with a smile.
She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also, her praises sang.
Many women do noble things, but you surpassed them all.
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord stands tall.
We honour you for all the works of your hands.
May you rest peacefully in the Father’s hands.
Sister, Xede Nyuie.
Your daughter,
Dr. Regina Mansa Degadjor, D.Hu. a.k.a. Swagger Momma
