Je suis sociologue et directrice de recherche au CNRS. Cet automne, je suis chercheuse invitée au Centre for Socio-Legal Studies de l'Université d'Oxford et à la Maison française d'Oxford. 

Dans mes recherches, je m'intéresse aux rapports entre droit, société et politique. Après ma thèse de doctorat, qui portait sur les politiques d'accès au droit et à la justice en Belgique et en France (Université de Liège et ENS de Cachan) (2006-2010), durant laquelle j'ai réalisé un séjour en tant que Visiting scholar à l'Université du Wisconsin à Madison, j'ai été postdoctorante Fulbright au département d'Anthropologie du Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) et à la City University of New York (CUNY) (2010-2011). Ensuite, j'ai réalisé une recherche postdoctorale au FRS-FNRS en Belgique et été chercheuse invitée à l'Université de Stockholm (2011-2012), où j'ai mené plusieurs recherches sur le recours à la justice dans la lutte contre les discriminations, en Suède, aux Etats-Unis et en Belgique. Depuis 2012, je suis chargée de recherches au CNRS, rattachée au CERAPS de l'Université de Lille. En 2021, j'ai soutenu mon Habilitation à diriger des recherches à l'École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). Mon mémoire original portait sur les inégalités d'accès à la justice et les rapports ordinaires au droit des salarié·es du secteur privé. Au cours de six dernières années, j'ai enseigné à l'Université de Montréal, à l'Université de Lausanne, à Sciences Po Lille, à l'Université de Lille et à l'Université de Liège. 

Ma recherche en cours porte sur l'accès aux droits sociaux dans le domaine du handicap et sur les recours en justice des personnes qui se sont vues refuser l'octroi de prestations sociales en France et au Royaume-Uni. A partir d'une enquête ethnographique au sein de plusieurs espaces (administrations en charge du handicap, associations, cabinets d'avocat·es, tribunaux), je m'intéresse d'une part à la manière dont les personnes en situation de handicap font des demandes pour obtenir ces allocations et reçoivent - ou ne reçoivent pas - d'aide dans leurs démarches. J'étudie, d'autre part, la manière dont les agent·es des administrations et les juges prennent des décisions, en fonction de leur éthos professionnel et de leurs pratiques de travail. Ma recherche met en lumière comment la classe, le genre, la race et le handicap façonnent l'accès aux droits sociaux et les pratiques des agent·es des administrations et des juges.

I am a permanent CNRS research fellow in sociology. I am currently visiting academic at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies of the University of Oxford and the Maison française of Oxford. 

In my research, I am interested in the relationship between law, society, and politics. After my PhD dissertation in which I studied Belgian and French legal aid policy (University of Liege & ENS of Cachan) (2006-2010) and a stay as Visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I was awarded a Fulbright scholarship as postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Anthropology at MIT (Cambridge-Boston, USA) and at the City University of New York (CUNY) (2010-2011). After I was postdoctoral fellow at the Belgian FRS-FNRS and visiting researcher at the University of Stockholm (2011-2012) and I conducted several research projects on legal mobilization and discrimination in Sweden, the United States, and Belgium. Since 2012, I have worked as CNRS Faculty Research Fellow with the CERAPS, University of Lille. In 2021, I defended my Habilitation to supervise research at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) and presented a dissertation on inequalities in access to the legal system and legal consciousness of  private sector employees. Over the past six years, I have taught at the University of Montreal, the University of Lausanne, Sciences Po Lille, the University of Lille and the University of Liege.

My current research examines access to welfare benefits in the field of disability and the legal action taken by people who have been denied those benefits in France and the United Kingdom. On the basis of an ethnographic study in various settings (disability authorities, non-profit organisations, lawyers' offices, and courts), I am looking at how people with disabilities apply and receive - or do not receive - support to apply for welfare benefits, and at the way in which disability authorities' officials and judges make decisions, based on their professional ethos and working practices. My research highlights how class, gender, race and disability shape access to social benefits and the practices of public officials and judges.
