about:
dismember to remember explores what happens to the body when it faces amnesia, when it enters a liminal space where anything is possible; when it tries, fails or is forced to remember, and even when it remembers...suspended between memory and oblivion. in this piece, the crisis comes from within and it resonates in the space of an abandoned hotel building. we observe how the fear of not remembering distresses the body to an extent of a crisis. intimate moments of audience interaction, intense physical actions, but also visual elements such as projections, lists, and maps are fused as poetic transformations of local history, individual and collective memory and/or amnesia. absolutely intrigued by the ambiguity and creative potential that amnesia can offer the body, we question humans’ dramatic attempts to beautify and cling into the past without realising the distortion that takes place.
