The AstroTwinCoLO 2022 10th Meeting is the tenth event celebrated as part of the Astronomy Twinning Program between the Leiden Observatory (The Netherlands) and the University of Antioquia (Colombia). The meeting will be in-person between the 5th and the 16th of December, 2022.  Participants from all over the globe are welcome to participate in the Courses that will be offered during the meeting.

FIRST WEEK

Dr. Nienke van der Marel

Nienke van der Marel is an assistant professor at Leiden Observatory since September 2021. She is an expert in observations of protoplanetary disks and the connection with planet formation and exoplanets. She works primarily with the ALMA telescope in Chile, to resolve the structures in gas and dust seen in disks around young stars. Nienke received her PhD cum laude in 2015 at Leiden Observatory with professor Ewine van Dishoeck. After that she has worked in several fellowships at University of Hawaii, the NRC Herzberg Institute for Astronomy and University of Victoria in Victoria BC, Canada after returning to her alma mater. 

SECOND WEEK

Dr. Pedro Russo

Pedro Russo is University Professor in Astronomy & Society at Leiden University, the Netherlands, where he leads the Astronomy&Society Group. Dr. Russo was the global coordinator for the United Nation's International Year of Astronomy 2009. Pedro obtained his University degree in applied mathematics, physics and astronomy from the University of Porto, Portugal. Pedro was a research fellow at the Max Plank Institute for Solar System Research in Germany. Pedro is involved with several international organisations, like the International Astronomical Union, European Astronomical Society, Europlanet (European Planetology Network), the International Astronautical Federation. His work has received several awards, such as Seeds Special Award 2009, Scientix Best Educational Resource in 2015 and 2016, Most Innovative Educational Activities in 2017 and 2018 by HundrED and 2018 Leiden University’s K.J. Cath Prize.
